Sustainability First at BATIMAT 2019

Italian architect and urban planner, Stefano Boeri was commissioned to design the stand due to his portfolio of work which systematically links his architectural programmes with a vegetal sphere. Boeri designed the stand in a similar vein, to illustrate our voluntary commitment to sustainable development. The stand reflected our corporate ambition - to achieve unification between sustainable solutions and the built environment. Living plants and trees were incorporated alongside all our leading innovations from across the globe, to create a striking focal point; and most importantly, 80% of the systems exhibited on the stand are now being reused.

With highly trained staff from Technal on the stand to assist, customers were also given the chance to see our new innovative and sustainable aluminium solutions which are soon to become 'as standard' on a wide range of UK products. This included Hydro REDUXA 4.0, our new low carbon aluminium and Hydro CIRCAL 75R which contains a minimum of 75% post-consumer scrap.

A number of our 'in-development' products were also on display, which we hope will be on the market in some iteration in the near future. These included the Soleal 2-in-1 Double Sliding Window - which provides ventilation, acoustic insulation and protection against insects and intrusion - as well as an innovative moving aluminium-based facade that utilises the piezoelectric effect to convert wind, rain and even noise into sources of energy.

Another 'in-development' window that was also showcased was the Climal Smart Climatic Window with Neatamo. The innovative window heats and cools the ambient air of a room utilising a heat pump that is integrated into the patented architrave, whilst a sensor incorporated within the window automatically starts to purify the air if it detects that the air quality is deteriorating. What is more, both of these functions can be operated by remote control or smartphone for the end-users convenience.

Customers were also the first to see some of Technal's leading products making their way to the UK in 2020, such as the 'Pull-Slide' TIGAL door. Designed with an inward Pull-Slide opening, the door pulls six millimeters internally and will sit in a fixed position or slide open along its track - an innovative solution that will offer architects and designers greater design freedom.
